Установка системы
Установку системы производили через сеть с загрузкой инсталятора с флешки. Для этого выполнили следующие действия:
- Примонтировали флешку, создали каталог boot и скопировали в него каталог /boot/grub со всем содержимым.
- Отмонтировали флешку и запустили grub для выполнения следующих команд:
- grub> device (hd0) /dev/sdb
- grub> root (hd0,0)
- grub> setup (hd0)
- grub> quit
- Опять подмонтировали флешку, скопировали необходимые для инсталятора файлы и внесли соответствующие правки в boot/grub/menu.lst

Слишком большое потребление энергии от батарее крылось в режиме максимальной производительности процессора.

Системная локаль
После установки системы локаль по умолчанию ru_RU.UTF-8
Наверное єто хорошо, но всё-таки по привычке поставил старую добрую KOI8-R внеся соответствующую правку в /etc/default/locale, после чего добавляем локаль в /etc/locale.gen и перегенерируем командой locale-gen.
Далее следуют настройки экрана и шрифтов консоли. В файле /etc/default/console-setup устанавливаем CHARMAP="KOI8-R" и в
/etc/console-cyrillic прописываем "encoding koi8-r".
В консоли проявилась ещё одна неприятность - не работала прокрутка. Для восстановления работоспособности комбинаций Shift+PgUp и Shift+PgDn правим файл /etc/console-setup/boottime.kmap.gz:

При использовании console-cyrillic системные настройки от console-setup будут перезаписаны, поэтому правки нужно внести и для раскладки клавиатуры console-cyrillic, в файл /usr/share/console-cyrillic/ru_ms-koi8-r.kmap:

Звук
Звук работает почему-то только на наушники - на встроенные динамики выводиться не хочет. Есть подозрение на старые ядро и alsa.
При запуске rezound звук тоже не воспроизводился из-за отсутствия файла /dev/dsp. Вылечилось подгрузкой модуля snd_pcm_oss

Настройка программ

Для комфортной работы и необходимой индикации состояния основных параметров системы правим файл /usr/share/icewm/preferences для приведения параметров к следующему виду:

Обнаружилась проблема с кодировками отображаемых сообщений, которая вылечилась установкой значения "Cyrillic (CP 1251)" в меню Установки->Чат->Локализация
Для помещения программы на панель задач делаем следующие настройки: Установки->Список контактов->Док, отмечаем "Использовать док" и "Системная иконка". Чтобы скрыть неактивное окно дополнительно отмечаем "Скрыть основное окно при запуске".
